How to Remove Stickers from a Car Windshield

Whether the unwanted stickers are adhered to your windshield or window glass, there are several ways you can remove them at home. If your stickers are especially stubborn, there’s no shame in getting a little help from your friends at Cornerstone Kia! Follow these steps:

1. Spray isopropyl alcohol, window cleaner, or citrus-based cleaner on the glass. Citrus-based cleaner will be the most effective because it’s chemically designed to break down sticker adhesive. However, window cleaner and rubbing alcohol should work almost as well. If none of these are available, you can try using ice to weaken the adhesive.
2. Let the cleaner sit on the sticker for several minutes, or if you’re using ice, hold it against the sticker.
3. Use a thin, sharp razor blade (an X-Acto knife works well) to chip away any bits of sticker or adhesive still sticking to the glass. Take care that your cutting motion is directed away from your body!
4. Wipe away the bits of sticker with a clean towel.
5. If any residue still remains, give it another spray with your cleaning liquid, or citrus-based cleaner. You can also try WD-40. Remove what’s left with the razor and wipe clean.

How to Get Stickers Off a Car Body or Bumper

When it comes to removing stickers from a car bumper or body, the process is different than when you’re dealing with glass. Again, if you’re concerned about causing damage to the body paint, keep in mind that you can contact our Service Center for help!

1. Clean the sticker and the surrounding area of any dirt.
2. Apply heat to the sticker with a hairdryer or heat gun for 5 to 10 seconds, beginning in the middle and then extending to the edges.
3. Using a credit card, get under the sticker and scrape up the adhesive. Do not use a razor blade on the car body — this can remove paint or create dents.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until the sticker is completely removed.
5. Wipe clean.
