When you connect to Apple CarPlay™, the system integrates your compatible iPhone with your Kia vehicle. Apple CarPlay™ is the perfect feature to keep you safely connected and entertained on Rogers roads, allowing you to control everything from navigation to music streaming apps, right from the vehicle’s display.

How to Install Apple Carplay™

After you’ve purchased your new Sportage or Soul, it’s time to set up CarPlay™. Once you’ve established that your Kia is compatible with Apple CarPlay™, you’ll want to check that your device can connect to CarPlay™. Kia Apple CarPlay™ is only compatible with an iPhone 5 or higher, and a lightning USB connector is required on some vehicles. After you’ve squared all of this away, simply follow the steps below to start utilizing Apple CarPlay™ on your drives through St. Michael:

1. Press the ‘Setup’ key on your in-vehicle display, then press ‘Connectivity.’ This should populate a list of options and you’ll see ‘Apple CarPlay™.’ Click it and make sure it’s turned on.
2. Return to the home screen and connect your iPhone to your Kia’s USB port. The system will detect your iPhone and the CarPlay™ icon will appear on your home screen.
3. After you accept any requests/agreements, you’ll just have to press the Apple CarPlay™ button on your vehicle’s display to access many of the apps you use on your smartphone.

What Can You Do with a CarPlay™ Kia?

Once you’ve learned how to connect to CarPlay™, you can access all your favorite Apple features while cruising through Otsego. Some of the convenient Apple CarPlay™ components  you can use while on the road include:

• Phone: Make or take phone calls and listen to voicemails. Through simple voice commands, you can even access your contacts.
• Maps: Say or enter a destination or find nearby points of interest. Apple CarPlay™ can also predict future locations you might want to travel to.
• Messages: Siri can read your texts aloud. To reply, simply dictate a response.
• Music & Apps: Listen to your favorite albums or podcasts while on the go.

How to Update Your Kia Apple CarPlay™

If your Kia Apple CarPlay™ ever needs updating, follow these instructions:

• Go to Settings > General, and tap CarPlay™.
• Choose the model of your Kia.
• If you want to add or delete anything, this is your chance. You can simply delete the icons, or drag an app icon to change the other.
