Kia Safety Rating: 2024 IIHS Sorento Rating

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an independent organization that is dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries, and property damage from vehicle crashes. This non-profit organization conducts crash tests and evaluates vehicle crashworthiness and safety across several categories, providing consumers with an idea of how safe each vehicle is, rated from Poor to Good.

The Kia Sorento was redesigned for the 2021 model year. The IIHS 2024 Kia Sorento safety ratings also apply to the 2023, 2022, and 2021 model years. Let’s see how they rate:

Crashworthiness

  • Small Overlap Front, Driver Side: Good
  • Small Overlap Front, Passenger Side: Good
  • Moderate Overlap Front, Original Test: Good
  • Side, Original Test: Good

Seatbelts & Child Restraints

  • LATCH Ease of Use: Acceptable

Kia Safety Rating: 2024 NHTSA Sorento Rating

When you’re determining a vehicle’s safety for your Maple Grove commutes, you’ll most likely see evaluations from the IIHS and the NHTSA. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is another respectable institution used to evaluate safety and is backed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The NHTSA performs a number of crash tests on new vehicles, including frontal and side crashes and rollovers, to see how they rank on their five-star system.

Although the 2024 Sorento has not yet been rated, we can look at the ratings for the 2024 Kia Sorento Hybrid for comparison. They are built on the same frame, and the Sorento Hybrid has been rated by the NHTSA:

  • Overall Safety Rating: Four Stars
  • Frontal Crash Rating: Four Stars
  • Side Crash Rating: Five Stars
  • Rollover Rating: Four Stars

The Kia safety ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA are thanks to a durably built, reinforced frame and a comprehensive airbag system to protect you in the event of an accident.
